The technology used in egg donation has been a staple of fertility therapy for over 25 years and is recognized as highly effective. For women who are over the age of 45 (or who do not have viable eggs of their own), using an egg donor greatly increases the chances of creating a pregnancy. In fact, success rates for IVF procedures using donated eggs is over 70% for SMF patients. Providing treatment for women who are older than 45 is an area in which Dr. Jain has internationally recognized expertise. Even patients over the age of 50 have been able to achieve pregnancy with donor eggs under Dr. Jain's care.

Financial Concerns

In most cases, the intended parent(s) retain ownership of all the eggs retrieved from a selected egg donor during a treatment cycle. However, this may be cost prohibitive for some patients. If financial constraints are a concern, a shared donation program may be the ideal solution. In shared donation, eight of the retrieved eggs are fertilized and the resulting embryos are used in IVF treatment for one set of parents. The remaining unfertilized eggs are frozen so they can be made available to another set of parents. This way, the expense of egg donation is shared between two patients.

Scheduling Challenges

Patients do not have to be local to the Santa Monica area to benefit from egg donation. Carefully screened donors are consistently available through well established agencies giving patients a range of egg donor candidates from which to choose. This provides greater scheduling convenience for patients who travel from out of state or internationally to receive expert fertility treatment at Dr. Jain's clinic. Patients from out of town may also choose to use frozen eggs for greater convenience since these are immediately available at SMF.
